Just south of Decatur Illinois. Take business 51, just south of Decatur, the village is called Elwin.
Take County Highway 30 (E Elwin Rd) East.
Currently open. Call before going, I have been told conflicting information when calling them at 217-423-708.
This is not a large park, but its got a lot to offer, good meadows with well maintained and wide trails(more like roads really) for running full speed.
Also, a nice mix of open woodland and thicker woodland. Some decent hills for central illinois. The trail head is easy to find, and easy to park, it's also
open without too many obstacles when backing in your trailer. There is a handicapped slot with a ramp. There is no overnight camping so this is pretty much for
locals only. Anyone that doesn't live in Decatur must pay $2, put it in the kiosk near the entrance. This is a well maintained park so please pay them
for their dedication.

The tie up area, no overnights here, but they have lots of picnic tables and barbecues
Spacious and easy parking, easy access to bathrooms and water
Meadows are nice, lots of birds for watchers, and hawks
Meadows for running, with nice spacious roads
Meadows transition to open woodlands
Open woodlands lead to thicker darker woodlands
It's called Sand Creek for a reason, lots of creeks even in dry weather
